​​Introduction: 

This 4-day course in pain medicine is designed for beginners, emphasizing the establishment of conceptual clarity. By the end, participants will grasp the principles and objectives of chronic pain treatment. They will develop the ability to logically select appropriate intervention modalities for specific pain patients. The curriculum focuses on providing a comprehensive understanding of pain management strategies, empowering learners to make informed decisions regarding patient care. 

Highlights of the Hands-on Workshop on Pain Management Techniques & Interventions:

  1. Comprehensive Curriculum: The 4-day workshop provides a thorough understanding of pain medicine, covering anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and pain management strategies.

  2. Eligibility Criteria: Applicants must hold an MBBS degree and have completed at least one year of residency in relevant disciplines, ensuring participants have a foundational medical background.

  3. Practical Focus: Participants will engage in hands-on practice on mannequins and volunteers, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge directly to clinical scenarios.

  4. Diverse Intervention Modalities: The workshop covers a range of pain management techniques, including epidural steroid injections, nerve root blocks, facet joint injections, and ultrasound-guided procedures.

  5. Expert Guidance: Live demonstrations by experienced practitioners will provide insights into various procedures, enhancing participants' skills and confidence.

  6. Limited Seats: With only 5 seats per batch, participants can expect personalized attention and ample opportunity for interaction and learning.

Eligibility: 

Applicants for this program must hold a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree or its equivalent from a recognized university in India or abroad. Additionally, they must have completed a minimum of one year of residency at a recognized hospital in any of the following disciplines: Anaesthesiology, Orthopaedics, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Neurosurgery, Neurology, Rheumatology, Radiology, and General Medicine. Candidates with post-graduate degrees or diplomas in these disciplines are exempt from further questioning regarding their qualifications.

 

Venue:

The classes will be held at Rajarhat Pain Clinic in Newtown, Kolkata, and Samobathi Pain Clinic in Kolkata, according to the provided schedule. 

Course Fee: 

This is as follows, For Indian citizens and (Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal & and Bhutan): INR 19,000/-  For International participants: USD 400

Day 1 (Thursday)   

9:00 am to 9.30 am – Reporting and Introduction

9:30 am to 11:00 am - Introduction to Pain Medicine, Anatomy, Physiology, and Pharmacology of pain.

11:00 am to 11:15 am - Tea Break

11:15 am to 12:15 am – History Taking, Radiation safety, do’s & don’t in Pain procedure, 

12:15 pm – 1:00 pm – Interpret X-ray of Spine, MRI of Spine, 

1:00 pm to 2:00 pm - Lunch 

2:00 pm to 4:00 pm - Fluoro-anatomy of the spine with Practical Demonstration on Mannequin. 

 

Day 2 (Friday)

9:30 am – 11:00 am - Evaluation of back pain.

11:00 am to 11:15 am - Tea Break

11:15 am to 01:00 pm - Live Demonstration and Hands-on Practice on Mannequin - Transforaminal Epidural Steroid MIPSI - Sub-pedicular approach and Kambin’s Triangle Approach, S1 Selective Nerve Root MIPSI, caudal epidural steroid MIPSI

01:00 am – 02:00 am - Lunch

02:00 am - 04:00 pm - Live Demonstration and Hands-on Practice on Mannequin – Facet joint and SI joint MIPSI

 

Day 3 (Saturday)

9:30 am – 11:00 am – Approach to Knee pain, shoulder pain and Visceral pain,  

11:00 am to 11:15 am - Tea Break

11:15 am to 01:00 pm – Basics Of USG. Demonstration of RF machine, Ozone machine and PRP machine.   

01:00 am – 02:00 am - Lunch

2:00 pm to 4:00 pm – USG demonstration on Volunteer of Basic pain procedures of Knee and shoulder

 

Day 4 (Sunday)

9:30 am – 11:00 am – Live Demonstration and Hands-on Practice on Mannequin-Splanchnic Nerve Block, Coeliac Plexus Block, Superior Hypogastric Plexus Block 

11:00 am to 11:15 am - Tea Break

11:15 am to 01:00 pm: USG demonstration of Basic pain procedures of elbow and wrist,

Repetition of the USG Guided procedures.

01:00 am – 02:00 am - Lunch

2:00 pm to 4:00 pm- Repetition of the C-arm Guided procedures
